The Minority Development Association sponsors a Unity Breakfast each year honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. To assure Dr. King's dream is realized, financial assistance in the form of scholarship is awarded to aspiring young people to further their education. This year, the Association will be awarding a minimim of twelve different scholarships totaling $16,000. Scholarship winners will be announced at the 2010 Unity Breakfast.

Scholarship Application and Selection Process
- Complete the attached 2010 Application Form and submit by January 7th, 2010 to:
Minority Development Association, 2228 8th St SW, Decatur, AL 35601.
- A personal interview is required for all eligibility recipients. A scholarship committee member will contact you to inform you of the time and location of your interview.
- Scholarship recipients will be announced at the Unity Breakfast.

Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements
$500 Supplemental Scholarship Criteria (6 awards)
To be eligible to receive this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Minority Student who is a high school senior
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Resident of Morgan or Lawrence County
- Financial need
$1000 Nathan W. Tate Sr. Award Criteria (1 award) [Marketing/Finance]
To be eligible to receive this award, you must meet the following requirements:
- Minority Student who is a high school senior
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Resident of Morgan or Lawrence County
- Financial need
$1500 General Scholarship Criteria
(4 awards)
To be eligible to receive this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Minority Student who is a high school senior
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Resident of Morgan or Lawrence County
- Family income level not sufficient to finance college education (obvious financial need)
$1500 Russell Lee Priest Scholarship Criteria
(2 awards)
To be eligible to receive this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Resident of Morgan or Lawrence County
- Minority Student
- A high school senior or freshman in college (if you are a high school senior, an accredited college must have already accepted you.)
- Financial need
$500 G.W. Garth Vocational Scholarship Criteria (4 awards)
To be eligible to receive this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Minority Student
- Resident of Morgan or Lawrence County
- Interest in pursuing a Skill Trade
The G.W. Garth Vocational Scholarship provides tuition assistance for a trade school of the recipients choice.
